Youth Voice
As a partnership we strive to embed youth voice within all that we do. Our goal is to advocate on behalf of young people in Lambeth and to remain accountable to their needs. The Building Young Leaders program is a key initiative that ensures youth voices are actively heard, valued and acted on, across our partnership.
In addition to this program, our partners train and host Peer Mentors, who provide a range of mentoring support for other young people, through in-school support and after-school sessions. Our partners also regularly share their learnings from youth voice activities through joint training sessions and staff swaps. BYB collaborates closely with the Lambeth Peer Action Collective (LPAC), empowering youth-led research and social action.
The Young Leaders Programme
The Young Leaders programme takes place twice a year, with 2 cohorts of young people recruited from across all member organisations. It’s a paid opportunity for young people in Lambeth and ensures that youth voice sits at the heart of the Building Young Brixton partnership. The Young Leaders facilitate listening events to understand what is important to young people and make recommendations on how BYB services can respond to these priorities. They also take the lead in planning and delivering annual BYB events for young people across the partnership.

The Lambeth Peer Action Collective
The Lambeth Peer Action Collective (LPAC) is a collective of young people and youth organisations working together to take a lead role in identifying, researching and taking action on issues that affect them, providing an infrastructure for youth-led research and social action. A number of BYB partners are also involved in LPAC.
